3rd Annual Day at the Races coming!

A great day of brotherhood watching the thoroughbreds!

The original "Hal Ramser Day at the Races" was a signature event for the Los Angeles Alumni Chapter for decades but lost steam in the '90's. But thanks to the ardent efforts of two USC (Alpha Upsilon) Sigs, Michael Budincich and Chris Hay, the event returned in 2014 and L.A. Sig was happy to support. That first year back, just over 25 Sig alumni and actives showed and earlier this year that number climbed to 50!

With a nice lunch, and even nicer weather, many alumni attended and yes, a little betting went on. This is turning into our best single event and so this January, we hope you'll join us. All chapters welcome.

Many thanks to "Dr. Bud" and Chris Hay, co-chairs for the event again. Great job by two great Sigs!

How You Can Help Your Chapter (& the Greater Good)

(& maybe realize some tax advantages!)

Brothers,

In my role as Associate Director of Development for our own Sigma Chi Foundation, I communicate our leadership programs, and other important initiatives for Sigma Chi and seek support from alumni to keep the fire lit and Sigma Chi strong. Whether it's a "Donor Scholarship" for your chapter or a secific major, or the "Thomas Cowan Bell Chapter Challenge," there are ways you can support the young men running the chapters we used to.

One you'll hear more about is the almost completed "M. Craig Nason L.A. Coastal Provincial Scholarship" launched by Kevin, John Loes and me to finally bring scholarships to the chapters in our local province, via this, your alumni and alumni chapter, L.A. Sig. Moreover, it is endowed. Anyone wishing to know more may call me for details. Very excited about this one.

The Bell Chapter program brings added leadership resources to a chapter when alumni donate in the name of their chapter's Bell program. And best of all, the Sigma Chi Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization.

Local Bell Chapters for the coming year so far are:

Alpha Upsilon (USC)

Delta Eta (UCLA)

Zeta Xi (CSU Northridge)

Please contact me if you'd like to know more about how you can help. This includes planned giving.
