Annual LA/OC Blue & Old Gold Golf Tournament

Tournament Director (L.A. Sig): Kevin Bidenkap (Arizona St '90)

The Blue & Old Gold Golf Tournament started as a joint effort in 2005 with our brother alumni chapter to the south, the Orange County Alumni Chapter (OC Sig). Together, we were successful in bringing together brothers from both counties and raising money for different charities.

When the recession hit in 2008, interest and participation waned so we held off a few years. In 2013, the event was restored with a small field of golfers but every anticipation of a bigger endeavor in successive years. The last event was held at Los Verdes on the beautiful Palos Verdes Peninsula with a fun after-party, graciously hosted just down the hill at brother Jeff Morgan's (Cal St Northridge '76) house to a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean.

Stay tuned for details on the next one.

Sig/Sorority Alumni Mixers

Social Directors: Thomas (Tom) Chou (Texas '10)

Since 2003 we've been scheduling mixers with local sorority alumni chapters. This has been our most successful series for L.A. Sig. These mixers are usually for our younger alumni (and theirs), 20-30 somethings. It's a great transition for our younger alumni leaving college to become alumni. These exchanges are great in many ways. Their chapters and ours represent many different chapters, not just one at one university. Second, we are not competing with other fraternities in proximity. Moreover, most fraternity alumni chapters aren't as big and well-organized as we are. The women have been great and we have done many repeat mixers with a few of them. Here are the sororities we've had the pleasure to mix with to date:

  • Delta Gamma
  • Kappa Kappa Gamma
  • Kappa Alpha Theta
  • Delta Delta Delta
  • Gamma Phi Beta
  • Chi Omega
  • Alpha Chi Omega
  • Pi Beta Phi
  • Sigma Kappa
  • Alpha Phi
  • Alpha Delta Pi
